The artists, who share a studio in London, initially envisioned this exhibition as a dialogue between their practices, exploring themes that recur in their respective creative processes; trolls, babies, silhouettes, houses. The spatial intervention was designed to amplify this mirroring, drawing connections and inviting viewers to trace the interplay of ideas. The exhibition’s title, Find Five Flaws, borrows from the language of spot the difference puzzles, setting a tone of playful observation and scrutiny.
As the project evolved, its conceptual boundaries expanded, incorporating themes such as milk, feeding, influence, magic, and violence. These ideas emerged organically from conversations in the shared studio, adding layers of complexity and nuance to the narrative.
Both artists created angelic imagery during the process, though these pieces did not feature in the final presentation. Angels, often symbols of innocence and selflessness, were also considered as figures bridging the earthly and the otherworldly, embodying both the sublime and the unsettling.
The shared studio space itself became a setting for the dynamics of collaboration, where questions of physical and conceptual boundaries, ownership, and individuality arose. This context brought into focus the tensions of proximity: the negotiation of shared resources, the anxiety of comparison, and the simultaneous push and pull of influence and divergence.
